neverspent: vintage art of ferns (Default)
It was an unexpectedly chilly, grey, blustery day. Around here, we don't expect March to be cold, so we don't dress for it, which is the problem. The flowers and blossoms don't seem to mind, since it hasn't actually frozen.

So for various reasons, the weather being a very minor one, it was a bit of a dismal day. Then, out walking in the evening, I passed a large oak tree on a slope with some roots forming a sort of bowl. From yesterday's rain, it was filled with clear water.

There were a few things in my childhood that seemed inherently magical--like they had some potential beyond what I could see. A pool of water in a tree: magic.
