April 10: Laurel blossoms
Apr. 10th, 2011 08:30 pmThe laurels are in full bloom. If you couldn't see them, you'd be able to smell them everywhere, but these are not pleasant to human olfactory sense the way the wisteria are. They're probably delicious to flies. The laurels are large shrubs or small trees with shiny, feather shaped leaves, some of which are usually red while the rest are dark green. A couple of weeks ago, they started to sprout these networky branches of tiny white buds. Then three or four buds on each cluster would burst into a little flower, and now the trees are just heavy, completely covered with these clusters of cream colored blooms.
