neverspent: vintage art of ferns (ferns)
In the wooded area outside my apartment, there's a piece of ground among some trees that's been allowed to get nicely overgrown. Since I started wandering about there earlier this year, I've been trying to identify all the plants that crop up. It's mostly honeysuckle and a little bit of vinca (periwinkle), but there are wood violets and a few things I don't even know the names of yet. One thing really creeping out lately is the cinquefoil, a plant that puts out runners and has serrated, five-fingered leaves and small five-petaled yellow flowers. It's a little like wild strawberry, but the leaves are more pointed and it creeps more.
