August 29: Dove in the rain
Aug. 29th, 2010 09:15 pmJust when I think it's not going to rain again, I wake up to a soft, soft light grey sky, and by noon it's raining, just as softly.
It's so rare that a welcome rainy afternoon coincides with a day I have the freedom to make a pot of tea, sit on the sofa and enjoy it. (While doing other necessary tasks, of course, but just to be able to see and hear it -- I don't have windows in my office.)
In the late afternoon, I spotted a lone dove on the power line across the road from my balcony. It just perched there, content as you please. I love how birds aren't bothered by rain. Sometimes I wish I could sit out there and just let it fall on me. Sometimes I do, but it's rare that it's both warm enough and free of lightning at the same time.
